The Rumor Mills Are Grinding

Hillary to quit the race.

Tonight.

That according to several friends of friends that know somebody close to the Clinton campaign.

A semi-reliable source tell me that Hillary will withdraw tomorrow night in New York and endorse Barack Obama. There's a fair to middlin' chance she will speak at the Texas Democratic convention this weekend.

Lord almighty, I hope so. I don't think I can take too many more weeks of this Democratic Party "unity."

If it does happen, it'll only be about 3 months overdue, but hey, better late than never. We can then finally get on with the general election campaign.

Not to mention I can finally take down the dang petition from my sidebar.

Too funny, Dp...and too right. As a feminist, I've been very disappointed in the way she has run her campaign. And dammit! I've always loved the Clintons!

How can you NOT love a president who gets in the kind of trouble Bill got himself in. I can't even get a kick out of ole' Bill anymore.

I'll NEVER forget or forgive the assassination references or the dragging of bigotry into the campaign. I'm ashamed that the first real chance a woman had to attain the highest office in the land only proves that women can be as ruthless as men.

Sadly, the Clintons have showcased the state of racial affairs in the south. White, wealthy, educated...proclaiming to be color-blind...BUT...when things get tight, trot out the race card.

I'm hoping it's a generational thing and when my wee grandbabies (who are rainbow children with the blood of many races running in their veins) are adults that all this illusion of separation based on skin color will have gone the way of other ridiculous human concepts.

I like the site, DP.

MM - Thanks for your visit and comment. Please don't be a stranger.

And I hope you're right, that our generation is the last to deal with the levels of skin color foolishness that we put up with.

The kids by and large really don't care do they? That's a good thing in my opinion.

I was a long term Bill Clinton fan, and most of us were on the Hillary bandwagon until the tone of the campaign changed to that same old familiar tune. I think she underestimated the sheer desire of people for a change in how things are done, and Barack most visibly reflects that. I'm hopeful that he'll reflect it politically as well. I think he will.

The good thing is that Hillary has paved the way for other women to run for any office in the land by running a campaign as successful as hers has been, dubious tactics notwithstanding. There will be a female president, and when it happens, I hope it's not because she can be just like one of the boys. Just the opposite in fact.

I'm hoping that enough superdelegates step up before tonight to push him over the top, so Hillary no longer has any legitimate excuses left to stay in the race. This race has brought out the worst in a lot of people, not just the Clintons themselves. We need to start unifying for November.
